Human Universal Load Carrier (HULC) Biomechanical Military Combat Exoskeleton Developed for Future Soldier

U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center/Soldier Systems Center awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.1 million contract to field a few test articles of the Lockheed Martin / Berkeley Bionics Human Universal Load Carrier (HULC) (pronounced “Hulk”) hydrolic-powered anthropomorphic soldier exoskeleton system. The HULC, comprised mostly of titanium, is the evolutionary progeny of the Berkeley Lower Extremity EXoskeleton (BLEEX) project, on which DefenseReview (DR) briefly reported back in 2004, and is the latest developmental version of a biomechanical soldier performance augmentation/enhancement system designed to turn ordinary human soldiers on how to get her back into bionic super-soldiers. It’s essentially a wearable robot, or wearable robotic system, if you will.

Peltor and Ops-Core team up- We’re all ears

Seems like there is a trend toward mounting more and more on helmets. Not sure I like the idea of integrating communications completely into the helmet. What happens when you want to take your brain bucket off for a breather but still monitor the net?

Also anyone else see the irony in Peltor intergrating with the MSA rail when MSA owns Sordin, Peltor's primary competition?

Buying Cheap Gear: Killing Yourself and the American-based Tactical Product Revolution

Cool Article over at ITS. I've had one similar planned for CGR although probably in the form of a video with a few twists.

I find that those that justify cheap gear are typically weekend warriors that don't depend on it for their lives. They also tend to have a large collection of crap and feel butt hurt when someone tells them that their hard earned money has been spent on junk.

ZIRO 2P SE Shelter « Soldier Systems

Interesting new shelter. Unfortunately the links in the article don't bear fruit. Guess we'll have to wait until they get it listed online.

I'd like to see an optional floor/footprint for it. Looks like there might be one in one of the pics but it is hard to tell.
